AED
According to recent statistics published by the Dutch Heart Foundation (Nederlandse Hartstichting), about 43 people in the Netherlands experience cardiac arrest per day. This can happen to anyone at any given time and place, even in our practice. That is why we have an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) in the practice. When someone’s heart stops, the AED can be used to start it again. The sooner the victim is helped with the AED, the bigger the chance that he or she survives with minimal damage to the brains and other organs. Because the device indicates what needs to be done, it can also be used by people without medical training.
Most of our staff has been trained to use the AED and every year, they receive additional training to keep their knowledge and skills up-to-date.
